Vic: Four men escape Maribyrnong Detention Centre

Four men escaped from a detention centre in suburban Melbourne early this morning.

The Immigration Department says the men broke out of the Maribyrnong Detention Centre
at about 4 am (AEDT) and a search is under way for them.

A spokesman says the Victoria Police have been notified of their escape, and are investigating.

The breakout follows violence and riots at the Woomera detention centre in outback
South Australia on Monday.
