FED: Woolgrower lawyer appointed new head of AWRAP = 2

Opposition agriculture spokesman Gavan O'Connor welcomed the appointment of Mr Sherlock as
the new chair of AWRAP.

"Mr Sherlock brings a wealth of relevant experience to the position and has the background
needed to assume the role of chair of AWRAP at this most difficult time," he said in a
statement.

Mr O'Connor said it was also refreshing that Mr Vaile had not tainted the appointment with
a "jobs for the boys" tag, referring to Mr McLachlan's job on the Future Directions Taskforce.

"I wish Mr Sherlock well in his new position and trust that his considerable experience
will help him to address the formidable challenges which face the wool industry in 1999," he
said.
