Bowls: Woman lawn bowler threatened after rule change proposal

BRISBANE, Jan 20 AAP - Police are investigating threats to a woman lawn bowler who
has been campaigning aggressively for rule changes to bring more gender equality to the
sport.

Kathleen Rafferty, a Brisbane mother of two and member of the Buranda and Taylor Bridge
Bowls Clubs, says she has made enemies during her battle to change laws on the greens
which she believes discriminate against female bowlers.

Police today said Irish-born Ms Rafferty was the victim of a scare campaign.
