NSW:Hundreds of residents flee homes
Hundreds of residents are evacuating their homes as floodwaters continue to rise in
Wagga Wagga in New South Wales.
About 720 residents in North and East Wagga Wagga .. and Gumly Gumly have been told
to leave for higher ground by midday (AEDT).
SES spokesman PHIL CAMPBELL says they need to get out before the roads are cut off
and they become trapped.
The Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga is predicted to reach major flood level of 9.6
metres tonight .. and 10 metres early tomorrow.
As rain continues to fall across the state .. disaster declarations have been made
for Weddin, Wellington, Warrumbungle, Cootamundra, Coonamble, Harden, Gundagai, Dubbo,
Cabonne, Young shires and the Mid West Regional Council.
